Welcome to Thrive! This is a ground-breaking lifestyle programme empowering you to take control of your health. It focuses on therapeutic levels of carbohydrate reduction to give you the best opportunity to prevent progression and even reverse type 2 diabetes and other lifestyle conditions. The programme is based in Redbourn Herts and is led by myself, chartered physiotherapist Diane Watson and registered cognitive therapist and clarity coach Sarah Leonard. ​

The programme will help you to :

Take control of your health

Reverse your diabetes or reduce your risk of developing it.

Lose weight and reduce your waist circumference if necessary

Reduce blood glucose levels

Lower blood pressure

Improve your cholesterol profile

Reduce medication (with supervision from your GP}

Reduce the risk of developing further health complications such as heart attacks, strokes, cancer and dementia.

The programme takes place over approximately 10 weeks and is run in a friendly, fun and non-judgemental environment . It includes a recipe book to help you on your way and we bring samples of delicious, healthy foods for you to try at each session.

Topics covered include: What are type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome? - we discuss what these conditions are and how they develop. We talk about the factors that contribute to their development. Nutrition - we take a comprehensive look at how our bodies metabolize different foods and how eating the wrong things can contribute to conditions such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart attacks, dementia, cancer and many other lifestyle diseases. Physical activity - we look at the many health benefits of physical activity and how it contributes to weight loss. We explore the different types of physical activity and their advantages and disadvantages. Relationship with food - we understand that making long-lasting lifestyle changes can be difficult and believe that psychology plays a crucial role. We will help you to explore your relationship with food, look at the nature of cravings & addiction, talk about the toxic environment we live in, and how to create healthier habits. By looking at the psychology behind the cycle of change you will be prepared for and fully supported as you make healthier and sustainable lifestyle choices. Sleep - sleep is the single most effective thing we do to reset our brain and body each day. It is essential for our emotional and mental health and preventing type 2 diabetes, obesity and other lifestyle diseases. We look at how are body regulates sleep and factors that can disrupt those mechanisms. Stress - we look at how stress can have devastating consequences on our health and can contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular and other diseases.
